WASHINGTON - Delaware State women's tennis fell 5-2 on Thursday in a dual match with the George Washington University Revolutionaries.
Despite losing the doubles point, the Hornets put up a fight.
Kit Yi Kaye Au-Yeung and
Lucia Casas Blas narrowly lost 7-5 in their competition. Meanwhile,
Victoria Linkovski and
Brooklyn Bowen had a respectable 6-4 defeat.
Delaware State picked up two wins of the six singles matchups. Casas Blas logged 6-3, 7
7-6
5 against Victoria Sasinka. Au-Yeung went to an extra third set with Vaida Matuseviciute. Au-Yeung won the first set 7-5, lost the second 6-4, but she came back for a strong 10-4 advantage in the third to take the singles point.
Camilla Mitolo had a good showing, extending her match to three sets. However, it was a 7-5, 6-3, 10-7 decision in favor of her opponent.
Overall, the Hornets fell 5-2.

The Hornets are back on the court on Friday, Feb. 28 at 11 a.m. They will be in Philadelphia to face the Saint Joseph's University Hawks.
