BALTIMORE, MD --The Delaware State men's basketball team got a 27-point performance from the bench, but fell 71-57 to the UMBC Retrievers on the road Saturday.
The Hornets (2-6) had two players score in double figures, led by Ponce James, who had 19 points. Corey Perkins tacked on 11 points off of the bench and Miles Webb added six points.
Cyril Obasogie pulled down three offensive rebounds to pace the Delaware State offense which grabbed 10 boards and turned them into eight second chance points.
How It Happened
Delaware State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 34-22 heading into halftime.
Delaware State could not pull any closer in the second half, losing by a final of 71-57. Delaware State took care of business in the paint, recording 18 of its 35 points in the lane.
