Delaware State falls 97-41 to Miami (FL)

CORAL GABLES, FL --The Delaware State men's basketball team got a 20-point performance from the bench, but fell 97-41 to the Miami (FL) Hurricanes on the road Sunday.

Zion Bethea led the Hornets (2-5) with nine points and three steals. Ademar Santos added 10 points off of the bench and Ponce James chipped in as well with four points and four steals.

Muazibini Adamu pulled down three offensive rebounds to pace the Delaware State offense which grabbed 11 boards and turned them into one second chance points.

How It Happened

Delaware State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 50-19 heading into halftime.

Miami (FL) kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 94-35 advantage before Delaware State went on a 6-0 run, finished off by Corey Perkins' jumper, to shrink the deficit to 94-41 with 2:02 to go in the contest. Miami (FL) responded and outscored the Hornets the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 97-41. Delaware State got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 13 of its 22 total points.
