NORFOLK, Virginia – The Delaware State men's track and field program wrapped up the Outdoor season finishing third at the 2024 MEAC Outdoor Championship on Wednesday at Norfolk State University. The Championship was highlighted by several podium finishes.
Final Results
On the men's side, Jalen Booth-Mitchell made several appearances on the podium with a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 20.55. Booth-Mitchell took the bronze in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.27.
He also ran the second leg in the men's 4x100 meter and finished third with a time of 40 flat, along with Rahkeem Smith, Jaden Shelton, and Evan Knox.
Peter Kamanu was the first Hornet to finish with a gold medal. Kamanu finished with a 4.32-meter jump in the pole vault to take the gold.
Jeremy Gyan finished 3rd in the decathlon with a total of 6096.
The men's and women's throwers scored 49 of the Hornet's points. Emperor Campbell started hot off the throws Monday with a silver medal finish in the discus with a throw of 48.33 meters. Campbell also collected a bronze medal in the hammer throw with a throw of 49.32 meters. Christopher Johnson and Tyrell Martin went 2nd and 3rd in the shot put. Johnson got the silver with a throw of 16.30 meters. Martin got the bronze with a throw of 15.49 meters.
Jaden Shelton wrapped it up on Wednesday for the field events with a gold medal in the javelin throw. Throwing 52.43 meters.
