DOVER, DE --The Delaware State Hornets were not able to record a run against Saint Peter's pitcher freshman Angelina Wag on Monday despite recording five hits and were shut out 1-0 by the Peacocks.
Senior McKenzie Yurcaba (0-0) got the ball to start for Delaware State (3-4, ) and took the loss. The right-hander went seven innings, giving up one run on 11 hits, allowing five walks and striking out one.
Sophomore Mikaela Francois led the way offensively for the Hornets, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Delaware State managed zero chances with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. The Hornets last got a runner on third in the fourth, when senior Sydney Glisson made it 60 feet away from scoring with one out. Saint Peter's was led offensively by senior Maiah Skakal, who went 4-for-4 with an RBI. Wag led the Peacocks pitching staff, throwing seven shutout innings.
