DOVER, Del. - Delaware State women's volleyball learned Sunday evening that they will face the Penn State Nittany Lions in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

This matchup will be on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. The Nittany Lions will be on their home court in University Park, Pa., since they earned the top seed on their respective side of the bracket.

The Nittany Lions nearly went undefeated in 2024, as they posted a 29-2 record (19-1 Big Ten). They clinched a tournament berth with a 3-1 win over the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers on Nov. 29. Penn State enters this week on a six-match winning streak.

The Hornets finished their season with a 17-13 record (11-4 MEAC). A thrilling 3-2 win over the Howard University Bison in the MEAC Championship on Nov. 24 gave the Hornets an automatic qualifier. Delaware State also comes into this week on a six-match winning streak.

This will be the first-ever meeting between Delaware State and Penn State women's volleyball.

The top four seeds in the tournament are Penn State, Pittsburgh, Nebraska, and Louisville. The University of Louisville will host the semifinals and championship rounds later this month.
