DOVER, Del. --- The Delaware State University women's soccer team fell to Virginia Military Institute (VMI) 1-0 on Thursday.
 
The Hornets and Keydets battled for supremacy for most of the match however it was an 88 th minute goal from VMI's Sedona Dancu that secured the away win.
 
Audrey Abel, Kaylen Goddard, Brieana Hallo and Ahsia Thomas all recorded a shot for Delaware State with Goddard's attempt landing on frame.
 
Defensively, Ashley Maribo tallied five saves in net to keep her team in the game.
 
Delaware State returns to action next Thursday for a nonconference contest with St. Peter's University. Kickoff from Drass Field is currently scheduled for 7 p.m.
