DOVER, Del. --- The Delaware State baseball team finished its three-game Northeast Conference (NEC) series with Long Island University (LIU) on Saturday with a 5-1 loss.

Chris Amparo drilled a double down the left field line that scored
Nick Gnardellis from second base as the Hornets avoided the shutout.

Trey Paige and
Alec Rodriguez also collected a hit on the afternoon.

The Sharks were led by the arm of Garrett Yawn who went the distance for LIU. His nine-inning performance was highlighted by a season-best 11 strikeouts.

Delaware State will hit the road this weekend for a three-game NEC series at Sacred Heart University. First pitch of the series opener is currently scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m. Â
