Dover, Del. (Apr. 17, 2023) --- Visiting Coppin State wrapped up a three-game sweep of Delaware State with a 6-1 victory this afternoon.  Aniyah Haley knocked in two runs, while Celeste Gonzales and Brissa Alvarado had two hits and scored two runs each to lead the Eagles. The Hornets had five scattered hits in the contest. Emma Glawson drove in Delaware State's lone run on a first inning single.
Coppin State opened the scoring with two first inning runs. Delaware State starter Mayanah McIntosh issued five walks in the inning, including two with the bases loaded. The Eagles added four insurance runs on four hits in the top of the fifth inning.
Coppin State reliever Vanessa Carrizosa pitched 3.2 shutout innings, allowing three singles, to earn the win. McIntosh was tagged with the loss for Delaware State.  
The Hornets return to action with a three-game series at home against Norfolk State next Friday and Saturday (Apr. 21-22). The series begins with a doubleheader on Friday starting at 1:00 p.m.and concludes with a single game on Saturday at noon.
