Dover, Del. (Mar. 7, 2023) --- The visiting Delaware State women's lacrosse team was unable to recover from another slow start, resulting in a 12-7 loss to Eastern Michigan today. The Eagles led 6-1 after the first period and 8-1 early in the second in posting their first win of the season (1-2). The Hornets dropped their third in a row to fall to 2-3 this season. Avery Schwab and Skylar Hilmer scored three goals each to lead Eastern Michigan, while
Gwenna Gentle was the top scorer for Delaware State with three goals, while
Ebony Reddick added two.
After the Hornets tied the score at 1-1 on Reddick's first goal, the Eagles scored the next seven to open up an 8-1 lead. Delaware State answered with five of the next six goals, and pulled to within 9-6 on Gentle's third score of the game.
The Eagles  scored the next three goals to lead by six midway through the fourth period.
The Hornets will wrap up their three-game road swing with a visit to Kent State on Wed. (Mar. 8) at 4:00 p.m. Delaware State's next home game is  Mar. 15 against Central Connecticut. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Drass Field on the DSU Downtown campus.  Â
