DOVER, Del. --- The Delaware State baseball team wrapped up its three-game Northeast Conference (NEC) series with a 10-5 loss to league-leading Central Connecticut State on Sunday.
Â
After a scoreless three innings, the Blue Devils put one run on the board in the fourth and five in the fifth to establish a 6-0 lead through four and half innings that was never conceded for the remainder of the game.
Â
Trey Paige belted a two-run home run in the Hornets' half of the fifth to avoid being blanked on the scoreboard.
Â
RBI-knocks from
Nick Gnardellis and
Krew Bouldin in the bottom of the ninth trimmed the gap to 10-5 but a five-run deficit would be as close the lead as Central Connecticut State would allow.
Â
Bouldin, Gnardellis and Paige all recorded multi-hit games while Bouldin and Paige both led the team with a pair of RBIs.
Â
Delaware State will spend the next 11 games of the schedule on the road beginning Tuesday with a midweek matchup at University of Delaware. First pitch is currently scheduled for 3 p.m.
