DOVER, Del. --- The Delaware State baseball team dropped a Northeast Conference (NEC) contest to league-leading Central Connecticut State 4-1 on Friday.

Nick Gnardellis got the Hornets on the board in the first inning with an RBI-single through the right side that scored
Trey Paige for the 1-0 Delaware State lead through the first frame.

The Blue Devils put up two runs in the top of the second and never surrendered the lead the rest of the game.

Offensively, Paige and
Wilfredo Mendez recorded multi-hit games at the plate while
Chris Amparo,
Krew Bouldin,
Evan Bouldin Jordan King and
Alec Rodriguez also collected a hit in the game.

Delaware State will look to even the series tomorrow when these two teams meet again at Bob Reed Field. The NEC matchup is slated for a 3 p.m. first pitch.
