HORNETS RALLY PAST CHICAGO STATE 66-60

Dover, Del. (Feb. 7, 2023) --- Martaz Robinson and reserve O'Koye Parker led Delaware State with 16 points each to highlight the Hornets' 66-60 victory over visiting Chicago State in Memorial Hall this evening. DSU won for the fourth time in five games to improve 5-17 this season. The loss snapped a three-game win streak for Chicago State, a NCAA Division I Independent program, which fell to 8-18. Corey Perkins turned in a solid all-around performance for the Hornets, tallying 12 points, to go along six assists, six rebounds and three steals. Jahsean Corbett led the Cougars with a game-high 18 points, while teammate Wesley Cardet chipped in 11 points.
Robinson was seven-for-14 from the field in the contest, and has scored 139 points in the last eight games (17.4 ppg) to raise his season average to  10.5 pg, second-best on the team. He also topped the Hornets with eight rebounds in the game. Parker was five-for-eight from the field, including two three-pointers on four attempts, in 15 minutes off the bench. Delaware State center Ray Somerville scored nine points and had a game-high three blocks.
Delaware State got off to a fast start in the game, opening up a 17-5 lead, but the Cougars rallied to hold a 33-30 lead at the break. DSU won the second half 36-27.
The Hornets also came out on top in the major statistical categories, outshooting the Cougars 44.3% to 40.8%, winning the rebound battle 38-31 and committing just 10 turnovers to 17 for Chicago State.
Delaware State returns to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play this Saturday (Feb. 11) at home against Howard. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall.
