THE GAME 
The Hornets (4-17; 3-4 MEAC) take on NCAA Division I Independent HBCU Chicago State in a non-conference game. Delaware State is looking to bounce back from a 75-65 loss to MEAC rival Morgan State in the Invesco QQQ HBCU Legacy Classic at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., last Saturday. Reserve Khyrie Staten led three double-figure scorers for Delaware State with 17 points. Brandon State and Martaz Robinson added 16 points each for the Hornets. The loss snapped a three-game win streak for Delaware State, its longest since the 2016-17 season. A consolation for the Hornets is the game did not count in the MEAC standings. Delaware State was plagued by 21 turnovers in the contest, leading to 29 points for Morgan State.  The turnovers overshadowed the Hornets' slight edge in shooting and rebounding in the game. Delaware State was 22 for 55 from the field (40.0%), while Morgan State hit 30 of its 77 shots (39.0%). The Hornets outrebounded the Bears 43-42. For the season, Stone is  tops on the Hornets in scoring at 12.2 points per game and in rebounding with a 5.3  per game average. Robinson has climbed to a tie for second on the team in scoring (10.2 ppg) He also ranks second on the Hornets in rebounding (5.1 pg) and is fourth on the team lead with 24 steals. Fellow guard  Staten is tied with Robinson for second on the Hornets with a 10.2 point per game average. He also has a team-high 26 steals. Jevin Muniz is the team's fourth-leading scorer at 8.2 points per game and leads the Hornets with 25 three-point field goals.   

Chicago State (8-17) has won three straight and four of its last five games. The Cougars are coming off a 62-49 victory at Hartford on Saturday. The Cougars had a balanced scoring attack with four players in double figures and eight contributing points. Wesley Cardet led all scorers with 13 points, he was followed by Bryce Johnson who had 12, Jahsean Corbett with 11 and Elijah Weaver with 10. Corbett led all players with 11 rebounds as he notched his ninth double-double of the season. Cardet is the team's leading scorer at 17.1 points per game, while Corbett is second on the club with a 13.1 point per-game average and the rebounding leader at 9.0 per game. Bryce Johnson has a team 50 three-point field goals, followed by Elijan Weaver with 49. Cardet and Weaver are tied for first on the Cougars with 72 assists each.                  

THE SERIES  (Delaware State leads 1-0)
This will be the second meeting between the Hornets and Cougars. Delaware State won the only other contest 69-65 during the 1983-84 season. Chicago State was a NAIA Independent at the time.
