GREENVILLE, NC --The Delaware State men's basketball team got a 29-point showing from the bench, but fell 79-50 to the East Carolina Pirates on the road Wednesday.
The Hornets (6-9) had two players score in double figures, led by Wesley Oba, who had 15 points and nine rebounds. Brandon Stone tacked on 11 points from the bench and Martaz Robinson added seven points, six rebounds and three steals.
Led by Oba's six offensive rebounds, Delaware State did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 13 boards that resulted in six second chance points.
How It Happened
Delaware State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 35-19 heading into halftime.
Delaware State could not pull any closer in the second half, losing by a final of 79-50. Delaware State took care of business in the paint, recording 16 of its 31 points in the lane. Delaware State cleaned up on the offensive glass, collecting 13 offensive boards in the game.
The Hornets return home Saturday, December 30 when they host Mount St. Mary's University. Tipoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
