AUSTIN, TX --Jevin Muniz, Brandon Stone, and Martaz Robinson combined to score 45 of Delaware State's 59 total points, but the Hornets fell to the Texas Longhorns 86-59 on the road Friday.

The Hornets (0-2) had three players score in double figures, led by Muniz, who had 21 points. Stone tacked on 14 points and Robinson chipped in as well with 10 points, eight rebounds and two steals.

Delaware State forced 20 Texas turnovers. The Hornets turned those takeaways into 15 points on the other end of the floor. Deywilk Tavarez led the way individually with four steals.

How It Happened

Delaware State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 39-30 heading into halftime.

Texas kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 52-40 advantage before Delaware State went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Muniz's three, to shrink the deficit to 52-45 with 14:03 to go in the contest. Texas responded and outscored the Hornets the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 86-59. Delaware State got out on the break in the period, scoring seven fast break points. The Hornets put on a passing clinic, recording an assist on 67 percent of made baskets. Jevin Muniz, Brandon Stone, and Martaz Robinson combined to account for 76 percent of the Hornets points. Delaware State got a team-high eight rebounds from Martaz Robinson.

The Hornets return to action Wednesday, November 15 when they host cross town rivals, the University of Delaware. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
