Dover, Del. --- The Delaware State women's basketball team will complete its three-game away stint in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) competition this weekend with a trip to North Carolina Central University followed by a visit to South Carolina State University.

Delaware State clinched its first MEAC win of the season after defeating University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) 68-60 at Hytche Arena this past Saturday.

Offensively, The Hornets will look to continue riding the hot hand of senior guard
Alexis Moragne who led all scorers with 21 points in last weekend's win over the Hawks of UMES. Moragne currently leads her team in points per game as she enters Saturday averaging 9.4 points per game. Freshman standout
Savannah Brooks who currently leads Delaware State in total points (125) is contributing 8.9 points per game to the offensive efforts.

Defensively, senior forward
Jessica Martino has emerged as one of the premier rebounders in the league. Martino comes into this weekend currently sitting fifth in the MEAC in rebounds per game hauling in an average of 6.4 boards per contest.

As for North Carolina Central University, the Eagles are in search of a second-straight MEAC win after defeating South Carolina State 72-55 this past Saturday. North Carolina Central was powered by the 25-point performance from five-time MEAC Rookie of the Week Jerni Kiaku. Kiaku leads her team in points (222) scoring 12.3 points per game.

The Eagles have won the last two matchups over the Hornets looking to make it three in a row while Delaware State is in aiming to claim a win that the Hornets have not had in the series since the 2020 season.

After North Carolina Central on Saturday, Delaware State will head down to Orangeburg, South Carolina for a Monday night MEAC matchup with the Bulldogs of South Carolina State University. Â

South Carolina State will host Delaware State on Monday night after hosting UMES on Saturday. Sophomore guard Nicole Gwynn will look to guide South Carolina State to a pair of MEAC wins this and get the Bulldogs back on track. Gwynn leads her team on offense scoring at a rate of 10.3 points per game.

Like the North Carolina Central series, South Carolina State has won the last two games against Delaware State with the Hornets looking to snap the Bulldogs' streak.

Tipoff for Saturday's game at North Carolina Central University is currently scheduled for 2 p.m. at McDougald-McLendon Arena while Monday night's game at South Carolina State University is slated to start at 5:30 p.m. at Smith-Hammond-Middleton Memorial Center.
