Delaware State begins away stint at UMES

DOVER, Del. --- The Delaware State women's basketball team is set to begin a three-game away stint in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) competition with a visit to University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) on Saturday.

Both the Hornets and the Hawks enter Saturday's contest looking to snap respective losing streaks while clinching a MEAC win for the first time this season.

UMES will turn to junior guard Zamara Haynes to turn things around for the Hawks. Haynes currently sits just outside the league's top-10 in scoring as she has totaled 176 points for an average of 11.0 points per game.

Delaware State will look to senior forward Jessica Martino and freshman guard Savannah Brooks to guide the Hornets back into the win column. Martino has asserted herself as one of the top rebounders in the MEAC as she currently ranks fifth in rebounds per game collecting an average of 6.5 per game. Brooks continues to pace the offense as the team's leader in points (117) scoring an even 9.0 points per game.

Tipoff from Hytche Arena is currently scheduled for 2 p.m.
