STREAKING HORNETS TO HOST BOWIE STATE IN TUES. MATCH

Dover, Del. (Sep. 6, 2022) --- The Delaware State volleyball team looks to extend its winning streak to five when it welcomes Bowie State to Bayhealth Court in Memorial Hall for a 6:00 p.m. match today.
The Hornets, 4-2 this season, also look to stretch their home court win streak to 19 .
Delaware State is coming off a strong showing as host of the Hornet Invitational last weekend, winning each of its three matches by 3-0 scores.
Hornet middle blocker Alondra Maldonado (jr.) was named MEAC Player of the Week  after combining for 28 kills on 52 attacks (.365 hitting pct.), 10 blocks and 33 points to help lead the Hornets to two 3-0 wins over Hartford and a 3-0 victory over Quinnipiac in the tournament.
For the season, Maldonado is second on the Hornets with 54 kills and tied for second on the team with 23 blocks.
Senior setter Malgorzata Andersohn also shined during the tournament, tallying 57 assists, eight aces and 18 digs in the three matches.
Following the Bowie State match, the Hornets are scheduled to be on the road for their next six matches, competing in tournaments in Alabama and West Virginia the next two weekends.
Delaware State will host the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament for the first time this fall. The three-day championship tournament is scheduled for Nov. 18-20 in Memorial Hall (Bayhealth Court).
