Cary, N.C. (Apr. 3, 2022) --- North Carolina Central wrapped up a three-game weekend sweep of Delaware State with an 8-1 victory in a MEAC softball contest on Sunday.
Jaylah Barr was two-for-four with a home run and three runs batted in, while Jaden Davis had four hits, two runs scored and two RBI in four at-bats to lead the Eagles' 13 hit attack.
Courtney Kohel had two of Delaware State's four hits, and the Hornets' lone RBI.
Barr hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning to stake NC Central to a 2-0 lead.
The Hornets got on the board with a run in the top of the third inning.
Jonah Cunnigan was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and later scored on a two-out double by Kohel to cut the Eagles' lead to 2-1.
NC Central added two fourth inning runs to open up a 4-1 lead, and tacked on four insurance runs in sixth to close out the scoring.
The Hornets return to action at home on Wednesday (Apr. 6) against Cornell (4:00 p.m.).
Delaware State's next MEAC series is Apr. 9-10 against Morgan State at home.
