Baltimore, Md. (Apr. 16, 2022) --- Coppin State scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally for a 6-5 MEAC victory over Delaware State in the series finale today. The Eagles scored the last six runs in the game to take two of the three contests in the series this weekend.
The Hornets led 5-0 after three innings and were ahead 5-2 entering the Coppin State seventh.
Avianna Peterson singled in the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh for the Eagles.
Delaware State started quickly in the contest. Juliana Ceron walked to lead off the game and
Courtney Kohel followed with a home run to give the Hornets a 2-0 lead two batters in the game.
Delaware State added two more runs in the second inning to open up a 4-0 lead. The first run in the inning crossed the plate on a Coppin State error and
Felicity Munoz scored the second run on a steal of home.
The Hornets stretched their lead to 5-0 on a sac fly by Emma Glawson in the top of the fifth inning.
Coppin State scored two runs in the fifth inning to cut the Hornets' lead to three.
Kohel was 2 for 4 with two runs batted in, while
Gabriela Garcia also had two hits in game for the Hornets.
