HORNETS FALL SHORT AT CENTRAL CONNECTICUT

New Britain, Conn. (Mar. 8, 2022) – Delaware State held a lead at the half, but couldn't hold on in a 12-8 loss to Central Connecticut in a women's lacrosse contest today.
Rosella Nardi had a game-high four goals, while Emmy McGill added two to lead the Hornets. India Rosiere and Nina Dillard also found the net for Delaware State in the contest.
Olivia Gianakos led eight Central Connecticut goal scorers three.
After CCSU opened the scoring with two goals less than two minutes into the game, Nardi and Dillard answered with back-to-back scores to even the contest.
The Blue Devils responded with another two-goal rally to pull ahead 4-2 in the second period.
The Hornets answered with three straight goals, two by McGill and Nardi's second of the game, to take a 5-4 lead at the break.
Nardi tallied her third goal of the game to stretch the Hornets' lead to 6-4 early in the third period.
Central Connecticut took control of the game with a seven-goal rally from midway through the third period to the middle of the fourth.
Katelyn Parker capped off the spurt with a goal at the 4:19 mark of the fourth period to give the Blue Devils a 12-6 lead.
Delaware State closed out the scoring with two goals in the last three-plus minutes of the game, including Nardi's fourth of the game and the other by Rosiere.
The Hornets return home on Fri. (Mar. 11) to face Old Dominion. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
