DOVER, Del. ---The Delaware State baseball team fell to the Villanova Wildcats 15-5 in the semifinal round of the Liberty Bell Classic on Tuesday at Bob Reed Field.
Krew Bouldin accounted for four of the Hornets' five runs, three of which came by way of his two-home run day at the plate. Bouldin bashed his first home run over the left field wall in the bottom of the fourth, scoring
Alan Alonso and giving Delaware State its first two runs of the game.
Bouldin recorded his second home run of the afternoon in the bottom of the ninth with a shot out to center field for his fourth run batted in on the day. He tallied his third RBI earlier in the game with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth that brought home
Miguel Rivera.
Rivera, who drove in the other Hornet run, did so just one at-bat prior with a double into the gap in left center that allowed
Trey Paige to come home all the way from first.
Villanova was led in large part by catcher Will Reiner who drove in five runs on two home runs.
Delaware State returns to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) competition this weekend for a four-game series with Norfolk State University beginning this Friday. First pitch from Marty L. Miller Field is scheduled for 3 p.m.
