Cary, N.C. (Mar. 18, 2022) --- The Delaware State women's tennis team evened its record in the MEAC Round-up with a 4-3 victory over North Carolina Central at the Cary Tennis Center today.
The Hornets swept the three doubles matches and split the six singles contests.
Delaware State clinched the match win when
Iris Leder defeated NCCU's Lafi Joao 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 in the No. 4 singles contest.
Baluck Deang and
Samara Guillory also posted singles wins for the Hornets.
Deang swept by Isabelle Exsted 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5 and Guillory defeated Anaiah Jones 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 6 match.
Delaware State's dominant doubles play was highlighted by three sweeps.
Deang and
Klaudija Lisovska teamed for a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles.
Leder and Daria Julia were 7-5 winners in the No. 1 doubles match, while Kit Yi Kay Au-Yeung and
Eva Golembiovski gave the Hornets a 6-3 win in the No. 2 doubles match.
Delaware State will close out the MEAC Round-up against Norfolk State on Saturday (Mar. 19) at 9:00 a.m.
