THE GAME
Delaware State (2-16; 0-5 MEAC) welcomes Howard to Memorial Hall for a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference contest. Despite dropping their last 14 games, the Hornets have been quite competitive in recent outings, holding second half leads in each of the last three games. Delaware State suffered a heartbreaking 59-57 loss to Coppin State in its last contest on Feb. 2. The Eagles scored the game-winning points on a basket as time expired. The Hornets were ahead 28-23 at intermission, and opened up their biggest lead of the game, 37-28, on a basket with 14:43 left to play. The previous home game, vs. South Carolina State in Jan. 24, Delaware State suffered a 64-62 loss when the Bulldogs hit the wining shot with 3.3 seconds left in the game. Myles Carter, a preseason All-MEAC First Team selection, is tops on the Hornets and sixth in the MEAC in scoring at 14.2 points per game. He's also ninth in the league in rebounding at 5.7 per contest, fifth in field goal percentage (.394) and second in minutes played (32.8 pg). Shooting guard Dominik Fragala is second on the Hornets and seventh in the league with a 13.3 point per game average. Fragala is also second in the MEAC in three-point shooting (2.3 pg) and second in free throw shooting (.849). Hornet center Chris Sodom (jr.) is No. 1 in the MEAC in blocks at 2.4 per game (44 total) and sixth in rebounding at 6.2 per contest. Sodom was named MEAC Defensive Player of the Week after blocking a school-record nine shots vs. Morgan State on Jan. 30 in Baltimore, Md. Delaware State freshman point guard Corey Perkins returned to action in the last outing vs. Coppin State on Feb. 2 after missing the previous four games due to an injury.  Perkins is second in the MEAC in assists (4.2 per game), fourth in steals (1.9 pg) and sixth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.3).

Howard (9-10; 3-3 MEAC) has won two of its last three games, including a 72-64 victory at home against Maryland-Eastern Shore last Saturday. Kyle Foster led the way with a game-high 20 points, highlighted by four three-point field goals (4-9). Howard leads the MEAC in scoring at 77.4 points per game. Foster is second in the league in scoring with a 15.4 point per game average, while teammate Steve Settle III averages 14.4 points per game to rank fifth in the MEAC. Howard made national headlines on Jan. 17 when it battled Notre Dame to a 71-68 loss in the Martin Luther King Classic in Washington, D.C.
