Dover, Del. (Feb. 26) --- The Delaware State softball team managed just three hits in 9-0 losses to Syracuse and Auburn in the AU Plain Tournament today.
In the Hornets' first game today, Syracuse scored six runs in the second inning and three in the fourth to take control.
The Hornets collected two hits in the game, a one-out single by designed hitter
Alexis Roberson in the second inning and a one-out hit by shortstop in the fifth.
The Orange had 11 hits in the game, including two home runs.
In Delaware State's second game of the day, host Auburn scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back.
The Tigers tallied single runs in the second, third and fourth innings to close out the scoring. Auburn had eight hits in the contest, including four for extra bases.
Third baseman
Sandrea Hord had the lone hit for the Hornets in the game, a one-out single in the fourth inning.
Delaware State will close out tournament play with a second meeting against Bradley on Sunday in Auburn, Ala. The Hornets fell to the Braves 9-1 on Friday.
