HORNETS VISIT MORGAN STATE IN SAT. MEAC BATTLE

THE GAME 
Delaware State (2-14; 0-3 MEAC) visits Baltimore to take on Morgan State in a MEAC contest. The Hornets are looking to snap an 12-game slide. DSU is coming off a 64-62 home loss to South Carolina State on Monday. SC State's Rahsaan  Edwards hit the game-winning basket on a driving lay-up with three seconds left to play. The score was tied at 62 when Delaware State's Martaz Robinson missed a three-point shot with eight seconds remaining. SC State's Raquan Brown grabbed the long rebound and quickly fed the ball to Edwards, who raced up court to hit the winning shot. Zach Kent was high scorer for Delaware State with a game and season–high 15 points. Kent was six-for-nine from the floor, including three-of-four on three-point shots. Dominik Fragala came off the bench to add14 points for the Hornets, highlighted by four three-point field goals. Robinson added a season-high 11 points and Myles Carter 10 for Delaware State. Carter (sr.), a preseason All-MEAC First Team selection, is tops on the Hornets and sixth in the MEAC in scoring at 14.1 points per game. He's also 10th in the league in rebounding at 5.5 per contest, fourth in field goal percentage (.407), 17th in steals (1.4 pg) and fourth in minutes played (32.0 pg). Fragala, who had missed the previous two games due to ankle injury, is seventh in the league with a 13.6 point per game average. Fragala is also second in the MEAC in three-point shooting (2.2 pg) and second in free throw shooting (.833). Hornet center Chris Sodom (jr.) is No. 1 in the MEAC in blocks at 2.0 per game (32 total) and sixth in rebounding at 5.9 per contest. Delaware State freshman point guard Corey Perkins has missed the last four games after an impressive start to his college career. Perkins is second in the MEAC in assists (4.4 per game), fourth in steals (1.8 pg) and fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.5). He has missed the last three games due to injury.    
Morgan State (6-10; 1-3 MEAC) brings a three-game losing streak into the contest. The Bears are coming off 82-62 loss to MEAC leader Norfolk State in a nationally-televised contest (ESPNU) on Monday. MSU only trailed 35-33 at the half, but was outscored 47-29 in the final 20 minutes. MEAC Preseason Player of the Year De'Torrion Ware is stops on the team and 1th in the MEAC in soring at 11.5 points per game.               
Series History (Morgan State leads 62-44)
This is the first of two scheduled meetings the Hornets and Bears this season. Morgan State won three of the four contests between the teams during pandemic-shortened 2020-21 season. The Bears took the first two games last season, winning 99-83 and 74-69 at home. The teams split two games at Delaware State during the 2020-21 season. Morgan State won the first contest 92-67 before Delaware State bounced back to win the final meeting between the teams last season 82-75.   The Hornets are  looking to snap a four -game skid at Hill Field House since a 56-47 victory at Morgan State on Feb. 11, 2017. The teams are scheduled to meet again on Feb. 26 at Delaware State.
