Kristi Gomez topped all players with eight kills, while four teammates tallied five each to lead Delaware State to a 3-0 women's volleyball victory over Bowie State in Memorial Hall this evening. The scores were 25-12, 25-8 and 25-14.
The shutout was the sixth of the season for the Hornets, who improved to 6-1. The contest marked the season opener for the Bulldogs.
Delaware State also recorded a MEAC season-high 16 service aces in the match.
Malgorzata Andersohn led the way with seven service winners, tops among all MEAC players in a contest this season. She also tallied a match-high 17 assists and led the Hornets with six digs.

Mayah Ngundam and
Halo Yoshiki contributed five kills each for DSU. The five winners marked career-highs for Yoshiki and Dawson, who attempted seven attacks without an error in the contest for a 714 hitting percentage.
With Andersohn serving, the Hornets started the second set by running off the first 10 points, including three by ace.
The Hornets posted a .444 attack percentage in the second set, collecting 11 kills on 18 attempts.
Alayna Lacy recorded 12 assists, three aces and four digs, while
Jasmal Cruz tallied six helpers, three aces and five digs for the Hornets.
Delaware State is back in action on Wednesday (Sep. 8) at home against Manhattan. Start time is set for 6:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall.
