SMYRNA, Del. – The Delaware State University men's cross country team won the opening meet of the 2021 season at the DSU Sting Invite on Saturday.
Freshman
Devin Smith (Waldorf, Md.) led the way with a first-place finish in the first race of his collegiate career, recording a time of 18:13.10.
Three Hornets placed in the top five out of a field of 26 runners.
Mosa Aboeid (Greensboro, N.C.) took fourth with a time of 18:36.20 while
Jose Rivera-Yetter (Wilmington, Del.) finished right behind him in fifth, running a final time of 18:44.20.
Ezekiel Dawkins (Newark, Del.) rounded out the Hornets' top-10 finishers. Dawkins ran a final time of 19:23.70 which placed him eighth overall.
Delaware State University will be back in action on Saturday, September 25 to compete in The Shore Invite hosted by University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
