On October 2, 2026, the Delaware State University Men's and Women's Cross Country teams returned to action competing against some of the best NCAA D1 cross country programs in the country at the famous and hilly Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa sponsored by ASICS.

The Hornet men finished 29th place overall in the 8k Gold Race defeating such programs as Rutgers Bowling Green and Yale to name a few.  Amongst 330 harriers, Marian Drazan led the Hornets covering the hilly terrain in 25:14 (66th).  Lekan Sotonwa ran 25:42 (117th) and was in 51st place starting the final mile before succumbing to the heat and hills.

Jonathan Drew covered the course in 25:48 (130th), while Ian Cain (26:54) and freshman Talan Gerardi (27:12) rounded out the top 5 finishers for the Hornets.  Mugo Waweru, Da'Shawn Keller and Isaiah Harmon also finished for the Hornets.

The Hornets will return on Friday, October 16 for the Panorama Farms Invite.
