Box Score Dover, Del. (Aug. 29, 2021) --- The Delaware State women's soccer team played  even with American University for more than 68 minutes before the Eagles broke through for a 2-0 victory over the Hornets at Alumni Stadium today.
Brooke Steele scored both American goals. She put the Eagles ahead 1-0 on an unassisted shot past Delaware State goal keeper Eriona Shabani in the 69^th minute.
The lead help up for eight minutes before Steele scored again to give the Eagles a two goal lead.
Shabani had nine saves for the Hornets, including six without allowing a goal in the first half.
American outshot DSU 15-2 in the contest.  
Alani Lawrence had the lone shot on goal for the Hornets in the second half.
Delaware State is back in action on Wed. (Sep. 1) at home against Rider. Start time is set for 7:00 p.m. at Alumni Stadium.
