BEARS TOO MUCH FOR HORNETS IN FRIDAY MATINEE

Dover, Del. (Mar. 5, 2021) --- De'Torrion Ware came off the bench to lead all players with 29 points and 10 rebounds, while Troy Baxter, Jr. added 18 points to lead Morgan State to a 92-67 MEAC North victory over Delaware State in Memorial Hall this afternoon.
The Bears, playing for the first time since Feb. 14, snapped a two-game losing streak to improve to 12-6 overall and 7-4 in the MEAC. Morgan State would create a three-way tie with Coppin State and Norfolk State for first place in the final division standings with a victory over the Hornets when the teams meet again on Saturday at DSU.
Delaware State was led in scoring by junior guard Dominik Fragala's 25 points, his second straight game with 25 or more.  Fragala poured in a career-high 28 points vs. Coppin State in the Hornets' previous outing on Feb. 28. The recent scoring outburst has raised his season scoring average to 10.6 points per game, second best on the team.
Fragala was eight for eight at the free throw line in the contest.
John Stansbury was second on the Hornets with 11 points and Pinky Wiley added 10 in today's game.  Wiley also set a career-high with six steals in the game. His previous high was five in two contests. The team record for steals in a game is nine by two players.
The Hornets only trailed 14-10 after eight minutes, but Morgan State ran off eight straight points to pull ahead 22-10.
The Bears maintained a 12-point lead at the half, 42-30.
Morgan State scored the first five points of the second half, and opened up a 47-30 lead after Baxter hit two of three free throws with 18:06 left to play.
MSU held its biggest lead of the game, 83-57, on a basket in the lane by Ware at the 5:28 mark of the second half.
The Hornets and Bears will meet again on Saturday. Game time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall.  DSU will recognize Wiley along with fellow seniors Ameer Bennett and Myles Carter prior to the contest.
