The Game
Delaware State returns to the Nation's Capital for a rescheduled game that was postponed on Jan. 31 due to inclement weather. DSU is currently third in the MEAC Northern Division at 2-5, three-and-half games behind division leader Morgan State and three games behind second place Howard. The Lady Hornets are coming off a two-game split at home against Coppin State last weekend. The Lady Hornets won the first game 68-55 and dropping the second contest 57-55. In the first contest, Kianna Coomber recorded a double-double to lead the Lady Hornets with 18 points and 13 rebounds. In the second game,
DeMaurea Moore led DSU with 13 points, while
Lyric Turner added 12. Coomber again led all players with a career-high 14 rebounds. The contest also marked the Delaware State debut of Lady Hornet guard
Shannon Dozier (sr.), who came off the bench to score five points, including 3-for-4 shooting at the free throw line. Dozier joined the team this season after transferring from the University of Mississippi. For the season, Sha Collins (sr.) is DSU's top scorer at 8.4 points per game. Coomber has climbed to second on the team in scoring at 7.1 points per game. She's is also tops on the team and eighth in the league in rebounding at 6.8 per contest.
Daije Harris (sr.) is  DSU's third leading scorer at 6.8 points per game.
Janasia Law (sr.) is having a good all-around season, ranking fifth on the Lady Hornets in scoring (6.1 ppg), No. 1 in assists (36) and fourth in rebounding (4.7 pg).Â

Howard had a four-game win streak snapped with a 65-61 loss to Morgan State in its last outing on Feb. 7. Iyanna Warren led the Lady Bison with 17 points, highlighted by 11-for-14 shooting at the free throw line. Anzhane Hutton added 15 points and Jayla Thornton scored 12 in the game for Howard. For the season, Thornton is tops on the team and second in the MEAC in scoring at 15.1 points per game. She's also the league leader with 33 three-point field goals. Hutton is second on the Lady Bison in scoring at 12.3 points per game. She's also the No. 5 rebounder in the league this season (8.7pg).  Â
Delaware State vs Howard Series History (HU leads 53-31)
Howard has won the last five meetings, including a 71-60 victory on Jan. 30 in Washington, D.C. Howard's Jayla Thornton scored a game-high 23 points, highlighted by seven three-point field goals (7-12).
Kiana Coomber led Delaware State with 11 points and seven rebounds.
Janasia Law, MiMi Bullock and
Daije Harris added eight points each in the contest for the Lady Hornets. The last win in the series for Delaware State was on Jan. 11, 2016, posting an 87-86 win in Dover, Del. DSU's last victory at Howard was on Jan. 12, 2015 (58-50). The Hornets and Bison are also scheduled to meet on Feb. 27 & 28 at DSU's Memorial Hall.
