HOT-SHOOTING FLAMES TOO MUCH FOR HORNETS

 
Dover, Del. (Dec. 6, 2021) --- Liberty hit 21 three-point shots to highlight its 96-60 victory over visiting Delaware State this evening. Nine players hit at least one three-pointer for the Flames, who shot a sizzling 55.3% from beyond the arc. Liberty's Keegan McDowell led the way with six threes on eight attempts to account for his 18 points to tie for game-high honors.
Brody Peebles came off the bench to also tally 18 points for the Flames, including four-of-six shooting from three-point range. Liberty's Darius McGhee had four triples and 13 points.
The Flames were 21-for-38 on three-point shots and eight-for-17 on two-point attempts in the game.
Delaware State's Dominik Fragala also tied for game-high honors with 18 points. Fragala knocked down four three-pointers on seven attempts to tie his season high for threes in a game.
Freshman guard Avery Richardson came off the bench to finish second on the Hornets with a career-high 14 points on five-for-nine shooting from the field, including three-of-five on three-point shots.    
DSU's D'Marco Baucum recorded his first double-double of the season with 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Baucum has 33 rebounds in the last four games to raise his season average to 6.1 per game.   
The Hornets hit 10 three-pointers of their own in the game, shooting on a season-high 47.6% (21 attempts) from long range.
Another bright spot for Delaware State was a season-low eight turnovers in the contest.
Center Chris Sodom had two blocks in the game to raise his season total to a MEAC-high 19.
The Hornets have dropped their last five games to fall to 2-7 this season, while Liberty won its fourth in a row to improve to 5-3.
Delaware State returns to action on Saturday (Dec. 11) at home against St. Peter's. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall.
