HORNETS LOOK FOR HOME PERFECTION IN ’21 MEMORIAL HALL FINALE

DOVER, Del. --- The Delaware State University women's volleyball team will wrap up its 2021 home schedule on Friday (Nov. 5) against Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference rival Morgan State. The Hornets will attempt to achieve another in a string of firsts this season. A win tomorrow would give DSU a perfect home record for the first time in team history. The Hornets are 12-0 in Memorial Hall this season, winning 36 of 37 sets on their home floor.
Delaware State also needs a win to at least hold onto a share of first place in the MEAC standings. The Hornets and Bison are tied atop the league standings at 9-2.
Overall, DSU is 21-3 this season, which has been highlighted by a team record 16 match win streak. The school record for wins in a season is 23 by the 1987 squad (23-6).
Delaware State is still making its presence felt among the rankings in the statistical categories. The Hornets still lead the nation in aces per set , landing 2.24 per set. As a total, they have 177 aces on the season which currently ranks sixth in the nation. DSU is also No. 10 natinally in assists per set at 13.11. 
Defensively, teams are still struggling against Delaware State as the Hornets' opposition hitting percentage ranks second at a .116 clip.
Delaware State continues to dominate the MEAC statistical categories as well this season. The Hornets lead the league in hitting percentage (.256), opponents' hitting percentage (.116), assists (13.1 per set), kills (13.97 per set) and service aces (2.24 per set).
Malgorzata Andersohn enters Friday's match ranked first in the MEAC and fifth in the nation in aces per set (0.63;  41 in 65 sets) and sits in a three-way tie for 13th in total aces.
DSU's Alondra Maldonado is No. 1 in the MEAC in hitting percentage (.340) and  second in kills at 3.30 per set (244 total).
Sydney Lewis is second in the MEAC in blocks at 1.04 per set (88 total).
Overall, the Hornets still rank in the top 10 nationally in match win-loss percentage at .875, standing ninth  Division I teams. 
First serve for the MEAC showdown between the first-place Hornets and the seventh-place Bears is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Prior to the match, the Hornets will honor seniors Mayah Ngundam. Kristi Gomez, Kaylee Williams, Jelena Dukic, Erika Lindqvist and Marija Egic.
