RED HOT HORNETS TO FACE MEAC PRESEASON FAVORITE IN SUNDAY MATINEE

Dover, Del. (Oct. 17, 2021) --- The streaking Delaware State women's volleyball team will host 2021 MEAC preseason favorite Coppin State at 3:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall today.
The Hornets have been the big story of the first half of the '21 MEAC volleyball season, winners of a school-record 15 straight matches, while posting a 19-1 overall record and a perfect 7-0 mark in the conference.
Delaware State, however, struggled with Coppin State last spring. The Eagles swept three matches from the Hornets en route to winning the spring 2021 MEAC North title and an appearance in the MEAC Tournament championship match.
Coppin State is 10-8 overall and tied for second in the MEAC with a 4-2 mark this season.
The vastly improved fall '21 Hornets have won their last six matches by 3-0 scores and have 16 shutout victories this season. DSU has 3-0 wins in 13 matches and taken 45 of 47 sets in the 15 consecutive victories. Overall, the Hornets are 58-7 in sets played this year, including 21-1 in MEAC matches.
Delaware State is seeking its first 20-win season since posting a 20-13 record in 2009. The team record for wins in a season is 23 in 1987 (23-6).
