LADY HORNETS COMEBACK ATTEMPT FALLS SHORT AT THE BUZZER

Dover, Del. (Jan. 16) --- The Delaware State Lady Hornets lost to the Morgan State Bears 49-48 Saturday afternoon at Memorial Hall.  The Lady Hornets fall to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play. DSU had a couple of chances to win the game at the end, but their shot attempts fell short as time expires.

On the previous Lady Hornets possession Miajah Bullock drives baseline and passes the ball to Sam for the layup, cutting the deficit to just one point with 42 seconds remaining.

Morgan State's Dahnye Redd gets fouled and hits two free throws giving the Bears a three-point lead with just over a minute to play.

A few moments earlier, Law grabs the defensive rebound outlets the pass to Turner, who kicks it to Sharajah Collins on the fastbreak. Collins finds Melissa Sam sprinting to the middle of the rim for the layup reducing the deficit to one with 1:22 left.

With 2:25 remaining, Janasia Law gets the steal and passes the ball ahead to Lyric Turner, who makes the layup while getting fouled. Turner was unable to complete the three-point play, and the Lady Hornets trail 47-44.

Miajah Bullock gets the steal, euro steps past a defender in transition but could not convert on the layup. Her teammate Demaurea Moore gets the rebound and the putback layup. DSU trails 47-42 with 3:16 left in the contest.

The Lady Hornets trailed 47-40 with 5:54 left in the fourth quarter, their largest deficit of the game.

Delaware State led 27-21 coming out of the halftime break, but they were outscored 15-6 in the third quarter, both teams only mfade three baskets, but Morgan State made eight free throws.

DSU led by as many as 11 points, after a layup from Zoe Holmes with :30 seconds left in the first half.

Holmes finished with a career high 12 points and seven rebounds. Miajah Bullock added eight points for the Lady Hornets.

Delaware State shot 22-of-61 (36.1%) from the field but just 2-of-20 (10.0%) on their three-point shots.
