Dover, Del. (Dec. 4, 2020) --- Peak Sports Management, which is partnering with Delaware State University to oversee marketing and multimedia rights for DSU athletics, has entered an agreement with Heritage Sports Radio Network (HSRN) to broadcast Hornets' football, along with men's and women's basketball contests for the 2020-21 academic year.
A key feature of the agreement is the establishment by Delaware State and HSRN of a Sports Broadcasting Internship Program at the university. Under the agreement, the intern(s) will assist on home game and selected road broadcasts, in addition to performing other duties. The program is designed to offer hands-on training and an opportunity to gain the skills and insights to succeed as a sports broadcaster.
"Delaware State University Athletics is excited to expand our partnership with Heritage Sports Radio Network (HSRN)," said
Dennis Hawkins, DSU Associate Athletics Director for Finance and Administration. "Our new internship program is the result of a collaboration between HSRN and Peak Sports Management, and will provide valuable experience to students interested in the field of sports broadcasting."
"We are thrilled to partner with Delaware State University and Peak Sports Management to broadcast Hornet sports and promote the University to potentially more than a half-million listeners this year," said Omarr Bashir, HSRN President / CEO, and a DSU grad.
"HSRN's variety of platforms, including SiriusXM, radio, and the web, will provide countless opportunities to bring the excitement of Hornet sports, in addition to behind-the-scenes access and stories of interest, to alumni, supporters and fans of DSU athletics. The Delaware State community can download the HSRN app at Google play or IPhone and follow the Hornets wherever they go".     Â
Bashir added, "HSRN looks forward to continuing to work with the Delaware State Mass Communications department to develop the next generation of broadcasters."
