Box Score Atlanta, Ga. (Dec. 20, 2020) --- Guard Jose Alvarado scored 29 points to lead Georgia Tech to a 97-69 victory over Delaware State at McCamish Pavilion this evening. The Yellow Jackets won for the fourth time in five games to improve to 4-3 this season, while the Hornets are winless in three contests, each on the road.
Alvarado was 11-for-14 from the field, including four-of-five on three-point shots, and perfect on three free throw attempts in less than 28 minutes of play. He also second tied for second in the game with five assists.
Myles Carter, playing in his second game after missing the season opener, came off the bench to lead Delaware State with 17 points. Carter made good on six of his 11 shots, including two three-pointers (2-4). He also tied for the DSU lead with three assists.

Dominik Fragala was the only other Delaware State player in double-figures with 10 points, highlighted by three three-pointers.
The Hornets only led once in the game, 3-2, after a three-point basket by
Pinky Wiley (9 points) a minute into the contest.
DSU stayed within single digits for most of the first half until the Jackets opened up a 26-16 lead on a fast break basket by Alvarado with 7:30 to go before the break.
Georgia Tech led by as many as 11 points in the first 20 minutes before settling for a 40-30 advantage at intermission.
The Hornets outscored the Jackets 9-5 to start the second half, and pulled to within 49-45 after two free throws by
Ameer Bennett (6 points) with 17:1 left to play.
Delaware State only trailed 51-43 when Georgia Tech took control of the game. The Yellow Jackets scored 25 of 26 points over the next four-and-a-half minutes, and opened up a 76-44 lead on s jumper by Khalid Moore with 11:05 left to play.
The Hornets could pull no closer than 23 points the rest of the way.
Georgia Tech shot 55% from the field in the game, hitting 33 of 60 shots overall, including nine of 23 from beyond the arch (39.1%).
Delaware State hit 23 of its 53 shots for a season high 43.4%. The Hornets were eight for 26 on three-point attempts (30.8%).
The Yellow Jackets won the rebound battle 35-30.
The Hornets will wrap up their three-game road swing on Wed. (Dec. 23) at UNC-Wilmington. Game time is 12:00 p.m. in Wilmington, N.C.
