Dover, Del (Dec. 16) --- The Lady Hornets fall to the Lincoln Lions 72-55. Delaware State falls to 1-1 on the season. DSU struggled from the field in the first half as they shot just 7-of-29 from the field and scored just 18 points after two quarters of play.
Lincoln only made eight of their 24 field goal attempts in the first half but made 8-of-14 free throws.
Janasia Law was the lone bright spot for DSU offensively in the first two quarters, as she scored nine points (4-5 Fgs) including one made three-pointer, but the Lady Hornets trailed 26-18 heading into halftime. Law finished the game with 14 points before fouling out with 7:59 left in the game.
Lincoln opened the second half on a 13-5 run, capped off by a three-pointer from Bryanna Brown with 6:34 in the third quarter, giving them a 39-23.
The Lady Hornets cut the deficit to just at 61-53 after
Sharajah Collins complete a four-play with 3:22 left in the fourth quarter. Collins finished tied with a game high of 18 points, she also added four rebounds, one assist and one block. However, they were unable to get any closer as Lincoln ended the game on a 11-2 run, capped off by a three-pointer from Taylor King with just :11 seconds left.
Delaware State shot 21-of-64 (32.8%) from the field including just 6-of-27 (22.2%) on three-point attempts and 7-of-11 (63.6%) from the free-throw line.
Zoe Holmes for the second game in a row led the Hornets in rebounding, she finished with nine boards, five points and one assist.
Lincoln made 22-of-54 (40.7%) field goal attempts, including a blistering 10-of-21 (47.6%) from three-point range. They also went 18-of-29 (62.1%) on their free throw attempts.
