THE GAME
Delaware State (1-14; 0-1 MEAC) takes on defending Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champion North Carolina Central. The Hornets bring a seven-game losing streak into the contest. DSU suffered an 81-68 home loss to Morgan State in its MEAC opener last Saturday. The score was 35-35 at the half, but the Hornets were outscored 46-33 in the final 20 minutes. John Crosby (sr.) led three Delaware State double-figure scorers with a game-high 22 points. Crosby is tops in the MEAC and ninth among all NCAA Div. I players in scoring (as of Jan. 8). Sophomore forward Fahim Jenneto added 13 points for the Hornets in his season debut. Jenneto was four-for-six from the field, including three-of-five on three-point shots in the contest. He missed the last 18 games of the 2018-19 campaign and first 14 outings this season due to injury. Ameer Bennett (jr.) was the only other double-figure scorer for DSU in the game with 10 points. Bennett also pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Hornets. DSU's second-leading scorer (11.7 ppg) and top rebounder (7.0 pg), Bennett has reached double figures in scoring in six straight and seven of the last eight games.

North Carolina Central (5-10; 1-0 MEAC)  has won two straight, including a 61-45 victory over Florida A&M in its MEAC opener last Saturday. Jibri Blount led the Eagles with 23 points and 11 rebounds in the game. Jordan Perking came off the bench to add 15 points on seven-for-nine shooting from the floor. Blount is tops on the Eagles and second in the MEAC behind DSU's Crosby in scoring at 18.9 points per contest. He's also the league's third-leading rebounder at 8.9 per game.
