The Game
Delaware State (6-9; 2-0 MEAC) is seeking its first 3-0 MEAC start since winning four in a row to start the 2008-09 conference season. DSU and NCA&T are two of three unbeaten teams in the early league standings. The Lady Hornets and Aggies are currently tied for second in the standings. Norfolk State is the early leader at 3-0. Delaware State is coming off a 64-54 victory over visiting North Ā Carolina Central on Saturday.
Lyric Turner (jr.) came off the bench to lead the way with a game-high 24 points, highlighted by 12 for 14 shooting at the free throw line and two three-point field goals.
Janasia Law (jr.) added 14 points on six-for-11 shooting from the field. The Lady Hornets trailed 52-48 after a NCCU three-pointer with 5:04 left to play, but outscored the Eagles 16-2 the rest of the way. DSU led 32-26 at the half, but trailed 45-44 after three quarters.Ā
Sharajah Collins (jr.) is tops on the team and eighth in the MEAC in scoring at 13.4 points per game.Ā A two-time MEAC Co-Player of the Week, she also ranks among the league leaders in field goal percentage, assists, free throw percentage, steals and minutes played (31.4 pg).Ā Turner is second on the Lady Hornets and 10th in the MEAC in scoring at 12.9 points per game. She is also tops on the team with 37 three-point field goals to rank third in the MEAC at 2.5 per game.Ā Ā

North Carolina A&T (10-4; 2-0 MEAC) has won four straight and eight of its last nine games. The Aggies posted a 67-31 victory at Maryland-Eastern Shore in their latest outing on Saturday. NCA&T forced the Hawks into 10-for-48 shooting from the field (20.8%), including 3-of-20 on three-point shots (15.0%). Deja Winters came off the bench to lead five North Carolina A&T double-figure scorers with 15 points (5-7 FG; 3-4 3pt. FG), Cinia McCray tallied 13 points and 10 rebounds in the Maryland-Eastern Shore contest. Winters leads the Aggies and is fifth in the MEAC in scoring at 13.8 points per game. NCA&T's Jayla Jones-Pack is the MEAC field goal percentage leader at 55.4% shooting from the floor.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā

DSU vs NCA&T Series History (NCAT leads 36-34)
This is the first of two scheduled meetings between the teams this season.Ā North Carolina A&T has won the last nine encounters to open up a 36-34 series lead. The Aggies won the both contests last season, posting a 67-47 victory at Delaware State and winning 72-49 on their home court. The Lady Hornets have not defeated NCA&T since a 73-67 victory on Feb. 5, 2011 in Memorial Hall.Ā The Hornets and Aggies are scheduled to meet again on Jan. 27 in Greensboro, N.C.Ā Ā Ā
