RIDER HITS SHOT JUST BEFORE THE BUZZER TO BREAK THE LADY HORNETS HEART

Box Score Dover, Del (Dec. 30) --- The Delaware State Lady Hornets lose a heartbreaker to the Rider Broncos 71-69 in overtime. DSU falls to 4-10 on the season.

Lady Hornets guard Sharajah Collins full court heave fell short as the buzzer sounds.

Lea Favre hits a hook shot with just .7 seconds left to give Broncos a 71-69 lead.

DSU guard Lyric Turner attempt at a three falls short, she follows her shot and dives to grab the loose ball, Rider guard Amari Johnson fouls out as she dives into Lyric Turner after Turner corralled the loose ball.

Amari Johnson had 15 points, 11 rebounds and four steals in the contest.

Turner hits both free throws to tie the game at 69, with just ten seconds left.

Favre makes a layup with :41 seconds left in the game, giving Rider a two-point lead.

With 1:24 DSU guard Janasia Law's floater is no good, Melissa Sam grabs the rebound finds an open Collins whose three-point attempt also clanks off the rim. Sam again gets the offensive rebound dishes it to Turner who hits the three-pointer from the right wing, tying the game at 67 with just 1:09 remaining in overtime.

Turner finishes the game with eight points, seven rebounds and three assists.

Amari Johnson buries a three-pointer with 1:41 left in overtime, giving Rider a 67-64 lead.

DSU swingman Miajah Bullock grabs a rebound after Stella Johnson missed a jumper, Johnson tries to steal it from Bullock, but commits her fifth foul of the game.

Johnson fouls out the game with a game high 29 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Bullock hits both of her free throws to tie the game at 64.

Amari Johnson hits both free throws to take a 64-62 lead with 2:45 left in overtime.

Sharajah Collins drives to the lane, loses the ball but it ends up in the hands of Bullock who converts the layup to tie the game at 62.

Amari Johnson starts the overtime period by knocking down two free throws.

The Lady Hornets uses a 7-0 run, that was jump started by Lanayjha Ashe banking home a three-pointer from the top of the key and ended with Collins blowing by her defender for the layup. This barrage of points gave DSU a 51-41 lead with 7:30 left in the fourth quarter.

Throughout the rest of the fourth, Rider slowly chipped away at the ten point lead, and they trailed by only two points with 32 seconds left, after a layup from Amanda Mobley.

The Lady Hornets inbounds the ball, and the Broncos immediately presses them full court, Lyric Turner splits through three defenders, but eventually is trapped by multiple Rider defenders in the left corner near her own bench, but out of timeouts. After not being able to pass the ball out of the trap, she gets whistled for a five second violation.

Following the turnover, Stella Johnson receives the ball in the post and is able to bully past her defender for the layup to tie the game.

Delaware State led 44-41 heading into the fourth quarter.

The Lady Hornets shot 25-of-69 from the field (36.2%) and 4-of-17 (23.5%) on three-point attempts.

Sharajah Collins led the team with 21 points (14 in the 2nd half) with five rebounds, five assists and two steals.

Lanayjha Ashe added 13 points, four rebounds and one steal.

Rider made 28-of-66 (42.4%) on field goal attempts, including 4-of-19 (21.1%) on shots beyond-the-arc.
