Dover, Del. (Aug. 26, 2018) --- Temple scored a-minute-28-seconds into the contest and never looked back in a 3-0 women's soccer victory over Delaware State at Alumni Stadium this afternoon.
The Owls won their second straight match to improve to 2-1, while the Hornets are winless in four contests this season.
In the second minute of the match, Temple's Kerri McGinley out fought a Delaware State defender and Hornet goal keeper Leslie Fazio for a loose ball about 30 yards from the goal. McGinley hit a wide open shot from about 20 yards away to give the Owls the early lead.
Temple stretched its lead to 2-0 when Emma Wilkins nailed a penalty shot in the 22nd minute.
The Owls opened up a 3-0 advantage when a shot by Emily Keitel from about 40 yards away got past Fazio in the 81st minute.
Delaware State's best chance to get on the board came up empty when a secnd period penalty shot by Braxton Clark was turned away by Jordan Nash, Temple's third goal keeper of the match. The attempt was the Hornets' lone shot on goal in the contest

The Hornets will be on the road for their next two contests, Aug. 31 at UNC-Ashville (4:00) and Sep. 2 at USC Upstate (1:00). Delaware State will play its next home match on Sep. 5 against St. Peter's at Alumni Stadium.
