HORNETS END SEASON WITH SHUTOUT LOSS TO BROWN

Providence, R.I. (Oct. 30, 2018) --- Brown scored three goals in the first 25 minutes and never looked back in a 6-0 victory over visiting Delaware State in the Hornets' 2018 finale this afternoon.

The Ivy League Bears won for the second time in three matches to improve to 7-8-1, while the Hornets dropped their fourth in a row to close out the season with a 3-14-2 overall record.

Abby Carchio had two goals and an assist, while Claire Myers tallied a goal and two assists to lead the Brown attack.

Myers scored the first goal of the match in the 19th minute and assisted on a score by Malina Yago two minutes later to give the Bears a 2-0 lead.

Brown opened up a 3-0 lead when Maesyn G'Bye scored off a pass by Carchio in the 25th minute.

Carchio notched her first goal in the 40th minute to give the Bears a 4-0 advantage at the half. She tallied her second goal of the match five minutes into the second half.

Delaware State was outshot 32-6 in the contest, including 19-2 in shots on goal.

Hornet goal keeper Leslie Fazio recorded 12 saves in the match.

DSU, which posted a two-win improvement from its 2017 total, is expected to return each of its six 208 goal scorers next season. The list includes Jade Jamison (jr.), who tallied a school-record seven goals this season. Savannah Ay (fr.) set a Hornet freshman record with four goals this year.

Fazio is among four seniors on the 2018 squad.
