W Soc: MARIST TOO MUCH FOR HORNETS IN ALUMNI STADIUM CONTEST

Dover, Del. (Sep. 21, 2016) --- Marist scored three goals in a three-minute span of the first period and en route to a 7-1 women's soccer victory over Delaware State at Alumni Stadium Wednesday evening.

The victory was the fourth of the season for Marist (4-5), while the Hornets fell to 2-6.

Keri Bradley and Camille Bowen scored three goals each to lead the Red Foxes. Bowen also recorded an assist, while Bianca Furci had two helpers for the visitors.

Junior Kalyn Fauntleroy tallied her first career goal in the second period to account for the DSU scoring.

Marist scored first when Bradley scored off a feed from Burci in the 13th minute. It was déjà vu a little more than two minutes later (15th minute) when Furci fed Bradley for the second goal of the match to give the Red Foxes a 2-0 lead.

Marist scored again less than a minute later on a goal by Brianna Robinson to open up a 3-0 lead. The Foxes pulled ahead 4-0 on Bowen's first goal of the match in the final minute of the opening period.

Delaware State trailed 6-0 when Fauntleroy scored from about 10 yards out off a corner kick from Kayleigh Leschinski in the 63rd minute. Leschinski also has two goals this season to lead the team with five points.

The Hornets have scored in their last five matches after opening season with three shutouts.

Delaware State returns to action on Saturday (Sep. 24) at Sacred Heart. The match is scheduled to begin 12 p.m. in Fairfield, Conn.

The Hornets return home next Monday ( Sep. 26) to face Mount St. Mary's in a 7 p.m. contest at Alumni Stadium.
