Towson, Md. (Aug. 30, 2015) --- After completing a five-set match 17 hours earlier, the Delaware State volleyball team couldn't keep up with host Towson this morning, falling to the Tigers 3-0 on the final day of the TU Invitational at SECU Arena. The scores were 25-15, 25-12 and 25-13. Each team was playing its fourth match in three days.
Towson improved to 3-1, while the Hornets fell to 0-4 this season.
DSU had a season low hitting percentage of -.079 in the contest. The Hornets had 24 errors and just 17 kills on 89 attacks in the three sets.
Towson posted a .337 attack percentage, collecting 43 kills and just 13 errors on 95 attempts.
NaKia Jones (so.) led the Hornets with six kills, while Jasmine Jackson (sr.) had five. Marisol Arredondo (fr.) and Ayanna Lee (so.) tied for the team high with seven digs each.
Arredondo also topped the Hornets with 10 assists.
Towson's Joycelyn Kuilan led all players with 18 kills on 22 attempts (.773). Anna Holehouse had a match-high 11 digs for the Tigers.
DSU returns to action next weekend at the UMES Invitational in Princess Anne, Md. The Hornets will face North Carolina A&T in their tournament opener on Friday (Sep. 4) at 4 p.m.
