(Dover, Del.) – The visiting Lehigh women's basketball team (4-0) lived up to its billing on the offensive end Monday night at Memorial Hall, as the Mountain Hawks cruised to a 83-49 victory over the Delaware State Hornets (0-4) Monday night, headlined by four players scoring in double figures.

With this loss, the Lady Hornets are off to their first 0-4 start since 2002-03, whereas the Mountain Hawks are 4-0 for the third consecutive season.

Entering Monday night's contest, Lehigh averaged 83.7 points a game, led by forward Lexi Martins posting 20.0 points (26-of-39) and a nation-best 19.0 rebounds per contest.  Unfortunately for DSU, it was much of the same for the Mountain Hawks, as they shot 47 percent (28-of-60) from the field and went 21-for-28 (.750) from the charity stripe.  For Martins, she continued her early season dominance, posting a double-double of 18 points (6-of-8) and 15 boards, which were both game-highs.  Fellow frontcourt mate Kerry Kinek, who was averaging 18.7 points and 9.7 rebounds per game so far in 2015-16, also poured in 18 points (7-of-12).

In the case of Delaware State, its early season struggles on the offensive end continued, highlighted by being held to 18 points on 23 percent (7-of-30) shooting in the first half.  The second stanza, meanwhile, DSU improved its offensive prowess to shoot 40 percent (14-of-35), thanks to guard Mikah Aldridge tallying 10 out of her team-high 14 points (7-of-19) in the final 20 minutes.  Nevertheless, 17 turnovers, allowing 40 points in the paint and being outrebounded, 53-29, turned out to be too much for the Lady Hornets to overcome. 

Coming up, the Columbia Blue & Red will head to the Sunshine State later this week (Nov. 27 – 28) for Florida Atlantic's Thanksgiving Tournament.  DSU will open up against FAU Friday afternoon (12 p.m.), followed by playing the winner or loser of South Dakota and Appalachian State on Saturday (TBA).
