HORNETS KEEP ROLLING, MULTIPLE RECORDS FALL IN 2-0 WIN AT MARIST

(Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) – The Delaware State women's soccer team (6-8-1) not only continued its winning ways Friday evening with a 2-0 road triumph over the Marist Red Foxes (5-9-1), but it was the program's fourth in a row, setting a new school record for most consecutive victories.

“I couldn't be more proud of our team here tonight,” said head coach Kerri Scroope, who extended her career win total to 13.  “We came out very aggressive from the jump and it carried over for the rest of the game.  This was a total team win.”

Friday night's ending result for DSU also set a record for most road wins in a season (3), while closing within one victory of tying a school record most wins in a season overall.

Controlling the pace throughout, the Hornets scored with just over three minutes gone by, as forward Taylor Addison (2) put it past Marist goalkeeper Ashley Houghton (1-7). With this strike, the senior out of Mount Vernon, N.Y. moved into second on DSU's all-time list for most goals (8), in addition to fourth place for most career points (18).

Fellow senior Danielle Valente (2), meanwhile, made it a 2-0 contest during the 23rd minute with a header goal.  Team wise, Valente's strike set a new single-season mark for most goals (23).

At game's end, the Hornets finished with nine shots, led by Addison's three attempts. DSU's Michele Lammers (6-8-1), on the other hand, collected five saves to secure her third-straight shutout victory.  Lammers has also surrendered just one goal throughout the squad's four-game winning streak, occurring in DSU's 2-1 win at home over Mount St. Mary's on Sept. 27.

Coming up, the Columbia Blue & Red will look to extend their winning streak this Sunday afternoon (1 p.m.) at LIU Brooklyn.
