(Dover, Del.) – After holding the visiting George Washington Colonials (6-2) scoreless in the first stanza, the Delaware State women's soccer team (2-7) allowed two unassisted goals in the second period to fall 2-0 Sunday afternoon in the first of a season-long three-game homestand.
Breaking the tie was GW's Brooke Stoller (1) during the 57th minute, when she sent what looked like a pass from the right wing deep in DSU territory. Nevertheless, the ball landed in the left corner of the net just out of the reach of goalkeeper Katelyn Koslosky. A little over 20 minutes later, midfielder/forward Kate Elson (1) scored on a very similar play to give her squad a comfortable two-score advantage.
At game's end, the Colonials finished with 17 shots, including 17 placed on-frame. For DSU, it tallied five attempts, while Koslosky recorded a game-high nine saves.
Coming up, DSU will continue its three-game homestand this Wednesday (3:30 p.m.) against Saint Peter's.
